Services, listed the way we list everything.
Four lines of work, one monthly rhythm. Everything below is quoted for individually once we understand your records — we don't publish rates, because no two shoeboxes are the same.
Monthly bookkeeping
Sales and purchase invoices recorded, bank and petty cash reconciled, and supplier statements chased. We work in your cloud accounting software or our own ledger and hand you a one-page written summary each month, flagging anything that deserves your attention before the next VAT period closes.
VAT returns
Quarterly returns prepared and submitted through Making Tax Digital-compatible software, with the figures tied back to the reconciled ledger before filing. We watch the flat-rate and cash-accounting schemes for clients they genuinely suit, and we file the reverse-charge workings for construction clients registered under CIS.
Payroll
Weekly or monthly runs for teams of one to fifteen: payslips, Real Time Information submissions to HMRC, statutory pay (SSP, SMP, SPP), holiday accruals and auto-enrolment pension uploads. Starters, leavers and P60s handled as part of the same run, not as extras.
Year-end handover
Twelve reconciled months, a fixed-asset register, accruals and prepayments schedules, and a labelled folder of source documents delivered to your accountant in good time. Our workings sit alongside so their questions come to us first — which usually means a lower accountancy fee for you.
Who we work with
| Structure | Typical rhythm | What we watch |
|---|---|---|
| Sole traders | Monthly books, annual handover | Personal tax deadlines, cash-vs-invoice timing, mileage and home-office records |
| Partnerships | Monthly books, partner drawings log | Profit splits, partnership tax returns, each partner's share of expenses |
| Small limited companies | Monthly books, payroll, VAT, handover | Director loan accounts, dividends against reserves, Corporation Tax timings |
Trades, shops, stables, clinics and consultancies across Abingdon, Didcot, Wantage, Wallingford and the villages between — if your records fit in a carrier bag or a shared folder, they fit with us.
Software we keep
Most clients arrive with something already running — Xero, QuickBooks Online, Sage Business Cloud, FreeAgent, or a spreadsheet that has served longer than it should. We keep working in whatever you have, tidy it up, and only suggest a move when the current setup is genuinely costing you money or time.
Every client gets the same discipline regardless of software: reconciled to the penny, filed on time, and explained in plain English.
What we don't do
We are bookkeepers, not auditors or tax advisers. Statutory audits, tax planning and the filing of corporation tax returns stay with your accountant — and we make their job easy. If you arrive without an accountant, we'll suggest two or three local practices whose work we know, and brief them properly when you choose.
We also don't take on work we can't do punctually. When a prospective client's records need more hands than we have, we say so and help them find a larger firm rather than miss a deadline.
