Privacy policy
We keep other people's records straight for a living, so we hold our own to the same standard. This policy explains what this website collects, why, and what you can do about it.

Who we are
This website is operated by BOR HULL LIMITED, a bookkeeping and payroll practice, of 78a Ock Street, Abingdon, OX14 5BZ, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. The company director is Ioan Stetco. For anything in this policy, email enquiries@borhull.co.uk and mark the subject "Privacy".
For the purposes of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, BOR HULL LIMITED is the data controller for personal data processed through this website.
What this website collects
This is a small, mostly static website. The data we may hold about you falls into three groups:
- Emails you send us. If you write to enquiries@borhull.co.uk, we keep your message, your name, your email address and anything else you choose to include, so that we can reply and, if you become a client, so that we can do our work.
- Server logs. Our web hosting keeps standard technical logs — your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of each request. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running, and are not used to identify individual visitors.
- Cookies and local storage. This site uses a small amount of browser storage, including your cookie-consent choice (see below). Details are in our cookie policy.
The contact form on the contact page does not transmit or store your message anywhere: it exists only to help you compose a note, which you then send yourself by email. Nothing you type into it reaches us unless you email it.
Cookies on this site
We use cookies and local storage strictly necessary to remember your cookie choice, and — only if you consent — cookies for analytics and for advertising served by Microsoft Advertising. Full details of each category, its purpose and duration are set out in the cookie policy.
Embedded Google Maps
The contact page embeds a Google Maps map to show our office on Ock Street. When the map loads, your browser connects directly to Google, and Google may set its own cookies and collect data about your visit, including your IP address, in accordance with Google's own privacy policy. The map is loaded lazily and only if you visit that page; no Google cookies are set by other pages of this site.
Microsoft Advertising
This site may display advertisements served by Microsoft Advertising (Bing). Microsoft may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads where you have consented to them, and to prevent the same ad being shown too often. Our advertising policy explains how this works and how to opt out. Microsoft's own policies are at about.ads.microsoft.com/en-us/policies and privacy.microsoft.com/en-us/privacystatement.
How we use your data
We use personal data only to: reply to your enquiries; carry out bookkeeping, payroll and related work for clients who engage us; keep this website secure and functioning; and, where you have consented, understand how the site is used and show advertising. We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except the service providers described in this policy (our web host, Google for the embedded map, and Microsoft for advertising), each of which processes data under its own privacy terms.
Data retention
Enquiry emails are kept while the correspondence is live and for up to 12 months afterwards, then deleted unless you become a client. Client records are retained in line with our professional obligations — bookkeeping records for clients are generally kept for at least six years after the end of the relevant accounting period. Server logs are rotated by our host, typically within 30 days. Your cookie-consent choice in local storage persists until you clear it via "Cookie settings" in the site footer or your browser.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 you have the right to:
- Access — to ask what personal data we hold about you and receive a copy of it;
- Rectification — to ask us to correct data that is wrong or incomplete;
- Erasure — to ask us to delete your personal data where there is no good reason to keep it;
- Restriction and objection — to ask us to stop or limit certain processing, including processing based on consent;
- Portability — to receive data you gave us in a structured, commonly used format;
- Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, to withdraw it at any time without affecting anything already done.
To exercise any of these rights, email enquiries@borhull.co.uk marked "Privacy". We respond within one calendar month. You also have the right to complain to the supervisory authority: the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF, or via ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how this website handles data, we will update this page and move the "last reviewed" date. Material changes will be flagged plainly at the top of the page. This policy was last reviewed on 1 October 2026.
